There are lots of cloud service providers out there. Each provider has it's own APIs and deployment-script formats. Binding yourself to one provider and it's deployment methods could become an issue later on and using containers (Docker, etc.) is not always the right/appropriate solution. One might decide to use DigitalOcean when one's solution requires only a couple of machines but would like to move to AWS when it needs to scale. Apache Libcloud (https://libcloud.apache.org/) provides one interface to over 50 cloud providers. Using one interface allows you to automate your deployment process once, regardless of the provider you chose and if you decide to migrate to a different provider - the change is almost as easy as changing credentials. This session will introduce the attendees to Libcloud and will compare the deployment script's structure to other industry standards (such as AWS's Cloudformation). After the introduction we'll go over the following subjects (hands-on!): * A libcloud deployment script for Asterisk and how it works. * How to manage resources-discovery using libcloud and DNS * Few practices for monitoring new deployments & sending notifications. AND: * A live demo(!!) in which we'll deploy Asterisk in parallel on two different cloud providers - Which will ring first?
